What Is Meow Tarot

Meow Tarot is an AI tarot app: you bring a question, choose a reader, draw and flip the cards yourself, and the reader reads the spread for you. This page covers what it does, how to start, what it costs, and what it doesn't do.

What it does

Tarot readings. This is the main feature. You describe the situation in the chat, the reader asks a few follow-up questions, and once things are clear you draw the cards. There are twelve spreads in all, from three cards to ten; how to choose one and what each is for is covered in Spreads in Meow Tarot. After the draw, the reading opens with the conclusion, then goes card by card, explaining why each card reads the way it does in its position. For questions such as love or career, it adds a section on what to do. When the reading is done you can keep asking follow-up questions, with no limit.

Today's fortune. Free once a day on the home page. Three cards are read together to give the day's tone, things to do and avoid, and a lucky color. It uses the same free-form three-card method, scaled down to twenty-four hours, so here the Tower is a small surprise and Death is the wrapping-up of something. You can use it alongside a daily card you draw yourself for practice; see The Daily Card.

Photo Reading. You've drawn cards with your own deck; take a photo, and the app recognizes the cards and the spread. You check upright or reversed and the order, then a reader interprets it. Entering the cards by hand also works. It suits the times when you have a deck in hand and want someone to go over the spread with you.

The Academy. The reference you're reading now. It has about 127 pages, from what tarot is all the way to the Kabbalah; each of the 78 cards has its own page, and the spreads are covered too. If a reading mentions something you don't recognize, you can look it up here.

Memory. Every reading is kept in a timeline under the "Me" tab, and you can star the ones you want to keep. The reader remembers what you asked before, so if you come back a few days later and say "about that thing last time," it can pick up the thread.

The three readers

  • Luna. Soft moonlight that doesn't force everything into view, just enough to make out the shape of things in the dark. She gives her verdict first and words it with some cushioning, keeps the cards' message and the practical advice apart, and her advice is always grounded.
  • Sage. Steady as a mountain, easy as water. He is calm and good at taking a tangled situation apart piece by piece.
  • Sunny. It doesn't have to come all at once; even a small turn for the better is worth a lot. She is energetic and will nudge you to take the next step.

The three have different voices and look at a question from different angles, but they read the cards with the same method. Which one you pick depends on what kind of words you want to hear at the moment. How the method itself works is explained in Can You Trust Meow Tarot’s Readings?.

Getting started

  1. Create an account. Signing up gives you 5 Starwishes, and checking in each day adds 1.
  2. Pick a category on the home page: Love, Career · Study, Lost & Found or Choices. If your question fits none of them, pick Ask Anything. You can also go straight to the "Meow Tarot" chat tab and talk to a reader.
  3. Describe the situation in specific terms. When the reader asks you something, answer truthfully. For how to frame a good question, see How to Ask a Question.
  4. Draw the cards, flip them, and read the interpretation. If anything is unclear, ask a follow-up.
  5. After a while, go back to your timeline and see how much of what the cards said turned out to be right.

Starwishes

Starwishes are the app's credits. Today's fortune is free. A tarot reading costs Starwishes according to the spread: Three Aspects, Flow of Time and The Choice cost 2; the five-card spreads (Lover’s Cross, Four Seasons, Pentagram) and the Search Spread cost 3; Mirror of Hearts and Venus Love cost 4; Reunion, Past Lives and the Celtic Cross cost 5. The separate Vedic birth chart reading, drawn from your saved birth details, also costs 5. If you run low, you can get more under "Me."

What it doesn't do

It doesn't tell your fate. Tarot here speaks to your current situation and where it is likely to go; it doesn't read your whole life from your birth date or pass judgment on a whole life. What Is Tarot covers this in more detail.

It doesn't diagnose, and it doesn't give professional medical, legal or financial advice. With health questions, what it can read is your state of mind and energy; see Reading Health and Wellbeing Questions.

It doesn't make the decision for you. The cards will show a leaning, and the section on what to do will suggest concrete steps, but the decision is still yours.

All readings are generated by AI, can be wrong, and are for reflection and entertainment. How to get the most out of it, where it does better than a human reader and where it falls short, is covered in Can You Trust Meow Tarot’s Readings?.
